Command-TracTM is a 2-speed, shift-on-the-fly transfer case that offers part-time 4x4 capability. If rock-crawling is your thing, the 2.72:1 low range gives you the capability to handle almost anything - one reason the Jeep® Wrangler JK bears the legendary Trail Rated® designation. To be Trail Rated, every Jeep® Wrangler JK must pass grueling tests in 5 off-road categories: traction, ground clearance, manoeuvrability, articulation and water fording. Command-Trac is standard on the Sport and Sahara® models.
4x4 Capability
Adding to its superior capability, the acclaimed Rock-Trac® transfer case with a 4:1 low-range gear ratio is standard on Rubicon®. It also incorporates Tru-Lok® front- and rear-locking differentials, electronic front sway bar disconnect and Dana® 44 heavy-duty solid front and rear axles.
Tow up to 1,588 kg
For the ultimate in Jeep® Wrangler JK high-performance towing, choose the Max Tow Package, available on all Unlimited models. Equipped with this package, the Jeep® Wrangler JK’s towing capacity reaches up to 1,588 kg (3,500 lb). Included is a 3.73 rear axle ratio on Sport and Sahara® and a 4.10 rear axle ratio on the Rubicon®, a Class II receiver hitch and a 4-pin wiring connector.
Important Component Protection
All Jeep® Wrangler JK models include skid plates to help protect the underside of your vehicle. To prevent damage from road or trail debris, or off-road obstacles, the front suspension and drivetrain is protected by a 3-mm-thick stamped steel plate. An automatic transmission skid bar protects the transmission oil pan and other vital drivetrain components, and additional protection includes a transfer case skid plate and a fuel tank skid plate.
Advanced Driver Assistance
The Electronic Stability Control system (ESC) helps drivers maintain control at all times. Monitoring driver input against the vehicle's actual course, ESC strategically applies brakes on the appropriate wheel, or reduces engine power, when an unstable condition is detected. Incorporated into the advanced ESC system is a suite of electronic safety features designed to assist in specific circumstances: Hydraulic Brake Assist, All-Speed Traction Control, Electronic Roll Mitigation and Trailer Sway Control.
Roll-Back Prevention
Hill Start Assist (HSA) prevents the vehicle from rolling back when starting on an incline. When the vehicle is stopped on a steep incline and you take your foot off the brake to move forward, HSA activates to prevent the vehicle from rolling back. The system holds the vehicle in place for up to 2 seconds, giving you time to step on the gas.
Fuel Tank Protection
The Jeep® Wrangler JK features a mid-mounted fuel tank positioned between the wheels. What's more, the fuel tank is also protected by a robust skid plate, especially beneficial for serious off-road adventures.
