Power and Performance


The Charger R/T makes 420 hp and 468 lb-ft of torque from the standard-output version of the SIXPACK engine. That is a real step up from the previous-generation 5.7-litre HEMI Charger R/T, which made 370 hp and 395 lb-ft. The new R/T runs the quarter-mile in 12.9 seconds and reaches 0 to 60 mph in 4.6 seconds, so it has plenty of pace for daily driving and the occasional spirited run.

The Scat Pack turns up the heat with the high-output SIXPACK engine, rated at 550 hp and 531 lb-ft of torque. It runs the quarter-mile in 12.2 seconds, reaches 0 to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds, and tops out at 284 km/h. Twin 54mm Garrett turbochargers feed the engine, and boost builds early: the Scat Pack delivers 88 per cent of peak torque at 2,500 rpm, then holds more than 90 per cent of peak torque from 3,000 to 6,000 rpm. That spread keeps the power coming from launch through highway speeds.

Drive Modes and Rear-Wheel-Drive Fun

Both trims come standard with all-wheel drive that sends power to all four corners when you need grip, with a selectable rear-wheel-drive mode for when you want a more traditional muscle-car feel. Five drive modes let you set the car for the conditions:

  • Auto for everyday driving
  • Eco for lighter throttle and fuel savings
  • Wet/Snow for low-grip surfaces
  • Sport for sharper response
  • Custom to dial in your own settings

The Scat Pack adds performance tools the R/T does not carry. Its rear-wheel-drive mode can send 100 per cent of torque to the rear wheels for drifts and donut spins. The Scat Pack wears a performance hood with a SIXPACK bezel, a widebody stance, and 20-by-10-inch wheels wrapped in 275/40ZR20 all-season tires. Stopping power comes from Brembo six-piston fixed front calipers with floating rear calipers, matched to a performance suspension built for harder driving.

Both trims share the wide body and award-winning interior of the Charger lineup, and both are offered as two-door coupes and four-door sedans. Each trim also offers a Plus version that layers in more content. On the Scat Pack, the Scat Pack Plus brings a surround-view camera system, a head-up display, wireless charging, ventilated front seats, LED headlamps, navigation, and a 16-inch colour driver display.
