Power And Fuel Efficiency With The 2019 Ram 1500

Power and fuel efficiency – are two ideal components you look for when shopping for a truck, however, you might think it difficult to find both components together. A powerful truck may not have the best fuel economy. On the other hand, a fuel-efficient truck may not deliver the power you’ll need. But Ram proposes this question to you: why should you have to compromise? With the 2019 Ram 1500’s eTorque technology, you can have both the power you need to get the job done and the fuel efficiency to keep you going longer.

What is eTorque?

eTorque is a mild hybrid-classified system that delivers full-engine horsepower capacity and fuel economy at the same time – without extra effort required by the driver. eTorque improves fuel economy in both city and highway driving and in both rear-wheel and four-wheel drives. Integrating electrical components into traditional engine design is how the 2019 Ram 1500 delivers power and fuel efficiency to you.

How Does eTorque Work?

To improve fuel efficiency, the Ram 1500’s 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 engines and higher utilize a 48-volt battery pack, which replaces the engine’s traditional alternator. The electrical component is utilized during vehicle launch and when shifting gears, creating smooth acceleration, but not impacting fuel efficiency. eTorque also has integrated stop-start functionality. If the vehicle is at a stop for a period of time, the engine will shut off, but will quickly send 90 lb.-ft. of torque to the crankshaft when acceleration begins again. The stop-start function is integrated to reduce fuel consumption while the vehicle is idling, for example, while stuck in traffic.

eTorque technology also recharges the battery pack during deceleration and braking, so that the battery and engine are always working at full capacity. To further ensure peace of mind and the battery’s charge state, the battery pack includes a 3-kilowatt DC-to-DC converter. This means that you can be sure that you won’t have to worry about battery and overall eTorque malfunction. eTorque also improves Ram 1500’s engine stop-start response time – more than twice as fast as any other stop-start system, in fact. This quick response time ensures that you won’t experience prolonged lagging during vehicle takeoff.

Which Vehicles Offer eTorque?

eTorque technology is available in the following Ram models: 1500 Classic ST, 1500 Express, 1500 SXT 1500 Plus, 1500 SLT, 1500 Night Edition, and 1500 Warlock.
